Maurizio LiveraniMaurizio Liverani is Chairman of Baryon Capital Corporation. Maurizio Liverani also holds the post of Managing Partner of Market Capital, a Milan-based financial enterprise specialized in listing high growth companies on the London AIM market.

From 1991-2005, Liverani developed Algol Group, a distributor of network computing products and internet infrastructure solutions. Liverani was CEO of Algol France and Chairman & CEO of Algol Group (Milan). Liverani was CEO and founder of California-based ALCOM Corp., a manufacturer of document communications servers from 1988 to 1991.

Prior postings include: CEO and founder of Natus Medical Inc., Medical Instrument Company ALGO-1, a manufacturer of infant auditory brainstem response screeners; CEO and founder of Algol SPA (Milan), a distributor of network computing products; and, Director of R&D at Medical Instruments Company Amplaid SPA (Milan).

Liverani holds directorships with Assintel (Italian IT Association). Past directorships include chairmanship of OhMy Corp., an Internet fun card provider; WorldOnline, an ISP, LookNBuy (e-commerce); Party America, West Coast retail chain; and, Alcom Oy (Finland), public high tech group.

Liverani holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Science Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science for Electrical Engineering from the University of Surrey (England).

Tom GriffinTom Griffin is Managing Partner of Baryon Capital Corporation. Previously, Mr. Griffin operated his own boutique investment firm, Griffin Capital Advisors. During that time, he provided creative capital solutions through strategic financial advisory and investment banking services to companies in the United States as well as China.

Mr. Griffin has decades of experience in capital placement as well as financial advisory services to global corporate, and institutional clients. He has assisted companies, both public and private, with marketing, capital raising, capital structure, and business development.

Clients value his unparalleled connections in the Far East, facilitating successful introductions to markets in China, Philippines, Indonesia, and throughout Asia. One such company was General Industry Group, where he provided a solution for a failing company to joint venture with a Chinese company, turning around a business while ensuring principals a substantial profit.

Mr. Griffin attended Vanderbilt University until he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals as a catcher. His potential major league baseball career was cut short by injury, but his professional sports background has served him well in business. Mr. Griffin is leading Baryon as a client-focused, results-oriented company. From helping build 8 golf courses in China to taking several companies public, Mr. Griffin's diverse financial experience is a valuable asset to any client seeking the right growth opportunities.

Mr. Griffin is also invested in the community. He sits on the Boards of Directors for The Houston International Festival, The City of Houston Parks & Recreation Beautification Task Force, University of Houston Asian American Studies Program, Asian Pacific American Heritage Association, and Servants of the Poor. He is also the Chair of the World Affairs Council over Asia and Australia for the Greater Houston Partnership.

 

 

 

Jeffrey PremerJeffrey Premer is Managing Partner at Baryon, bringing a track record as an entrepreneur and investor in the China telecom, media and manufacturing space.

Premer is the CEO of Diversitech Holdings. Since 2001 Premer has build Diversitech into a profitable company with over US$20 million in revenues. Other posts include Chairman of Hangzhou Diversitech Manufacturing and Director of Shanghai Diversitech Import Export Company.

Premer has been in Asia since 1992, was founder of several successful trading, outsourcing and manufacturing companies in Taiwan through the 90s.

Premer's penchant for technology investment is housed in Shanghai Diversitech Labs. As Chairman of this enterprise Premer managed development of embedded software and hardware for internet connected devices. These and other technology projects has brought him into cooperation with China Telecom and other telecoms worldwide.

In addition, Premer is a founding investor and holds a directorship of Pumkin Corp., an English as a second language institution that produces books, audio/visual teaching tools and franchised schools. Premer is an active angel investor and advisor to several TMT and manufacturing companies in China.

Premer attended National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan from 1992 to 1993, where he focused on an intensive language program in Mandarin. Premer is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and is an active member of the YPO Pan Asia Chapter.

 

 

 

Brad ArmstrongBrad Armstrong is Managing Partner at Baryon. Brad Armstrong has worked and lived in Asia for over 25 years with a focus on China and Japan.

Brad first started his work in Asia with the Sino-American Infectious Disease Society, running annual multi-city medical exchange initiatives in Taiwan, China and Japan with backing from major pharmaceutical companies in the USA and Japan. These initiatives led to international sabbaticals and fellowships in the USA, China and Japan, including the establishing of medical schools and research centers in Taiwan and Mainland China. This work started in the mid-80s and continues through to the present day.

Brad then worked as a journalist in China for two years, working at both the Xinhua News Agency and the Independent of London based in Beijing.

Brad worked at Dun & Bradstreet in China as national business development manager, running the risk management business for multinational clients from Japan and the United States.

Following his work at Dun & Bradstreet Brad joined Asia Wired, an Acer Technology Ventures funded startup accelerator focused on brining Silicon Valley startups to the China Market with backing from Acer and other Taiwanese venture capital funds.

Brad then joined Defta Partners, a Japanese Venture capital fund, as Managing Director of Defta China, during which time he sourced Fortinet as an investment in which Defta led the second round of financing. After raising 3 million of the 9 million round for Fortinet from Asian strategic investors, Brad joined Fortinet as Managing Director of Asia Pacific where he ran sales for over one year.

After leaving Defta, Brad started Digital Sonar Partners, an advisory and sales and marketing outsourcing company to serve the growing need for United States based venture capital funds to add value to their portfolio through market entry support in the Asia Pacific region.

Digital Sonar grew and finally allied itself with its leading client, Focus Ventures, and expansion-stage venture capital fund with leading limited partners from the Asia Pacific Region.

Brad is still an advisor to Focus Ventures, and has co-founded Baryon Capital to serve a wider group of funds and companies looking to expand into the China market to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the world's fastest growing economy.

 

 

 

Sean YaoSean Yao is VP Business Development at Baryon. Before joining Baryon, Sean held managerial and executive positions in CITIC, CIEC, SITIC, Asiawired, Inc., and Fortinet. With over 30 years of professional experience in business consulting in both China and the U.S., Sean has developed invaluable insights into the advantages, resources, limitations, and practicalities of both markets.

In addition to his extensive professional experience, Sean also has a solid academic background in International Economics and Management. He is currently the Executive Director of Shanghai International Economic & Trade Institute. He was also Chair of the International Economics Management Department of Shanghai Foreign Economy Training Center and a research professor at University of California, Berkeley. Many of Sean's former students are now at high positions in various economy and trade sectors of the Chinese government.
